Brief Description

To support the implementation and compliance with the 2021 Sexual Harassment (Protection and Prevention) Act, Jamaica established the Sexual Harassment Investigation Unit. The Unit is responsible for investigating workplace sexual harassment claims, sensitizing the public and institutional actors on the Act, and ensuring organizational compliance across government, NGOs, community-based organizations, and the private sector. The Unit also provides support to the Sexual Harassment Tribunal. Since its establishment, over 38,000 participants (including 14,895 males and 23,269 females) have been sensitized on sexual harassment and relevant legislation. The Unit is staffed by one Senior Sexual Harassment Investigative Officer and three Investigative Officers, all of whom received specialized training through the National Police College of Jamaica.
